Default Tub cracked
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: DU1100XTPS1
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hello. My dishwasher developed a leak in the plastic tub under the heating element. By searching the internet, I found out there is a rework order for this model because an incorrect heating element was installed at the factory. Does anyone know whether the 20 tub warrantly will pay for a new tub and heater element?

I will have to wait about 3 weeks for Whirlpool to come out to service this unit. In the meantime, I have tried to repair the hole in the tub with a conventional two-part quickset epoxy. Does Whirlpool similarly repair the tub or can I get them to replace it? The tub warranty statement is a "full" warranty with no mention of repairing, just replacing.

Thanks,
Rich

You would have to contact Whirlpool about warranty issues.

Here is a phone number for Whirlpool US 1-866-698-2538 Canada 1-800-807-6777.

Make sure you have your model and serial number when you call.

Hopefully you have not voided your warranty by trying to fix the tub.

Follow up post: Although it has taken a long time, Whirlpool decided to replace the whole unit rather than repair the element and tub. I still don't have the replacement in place, but it is supposedly ordered.

The dishwasher finally got replaced this past week. Not so simple getting Whirlpool and their recommended technicians to get things done. Would probably consider another brand next time. Anyway, the replacement unit is working fine, although I noticed the warranty is just 1 year on all the parts (including the plastic tub).
