I can select any wash cycle except "normal" and the buttons light up, but does nothing when I press the start button. The "High Temp Wash" option does not light-up either when selected. The only thing that works, is the drain cycle. I'm thinking maybe a defective Electronic Control?
Any help much appreciated.

Also, are there any "diagnostics" you may know of within the buttons?

Check for loose wiring connection in the console.

There should be a technician sheet either in the control panel or in the kick plate.
