We just moved into a new house (well, new to us). We've noticed that when we run the dishwasher it smells like sewer around the dishwasher and in the garbage disposal. It is only when we run the dishwasher. Not when we use the sink or disposal by itself. We've cleaned the dishwasher with just about everything possible. While it makes the dishwasher itself smell better, it doesn't help when we run the dishwasher. Is there a quick or easy fix to this problem?

Sounds like you are emptying the trap or a valve is stuck open and are getting sewer gas
I would try to find the garbage disposal install/service manual on the internet
Then carefully check to ensure it was installed correctly

I have the same problem, but no garbage disposal. So the last suggestion is not an option for me. The sewage smell started about 2 months ago. Sometimes it is worse than other times. The dishwasher is a Kitchen Aide and is about 6 years old.
