Question Replacing pump gasket
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: dwu9200bab
Age: 5 - 10 years

The pump gasket is moldy, probably due to air drying instead of using the heater to dry. Or maybe too much water is staying in the bottom but we never see water left in there. We removed parts 1 through 13 on the 'pump and motor diagram' and then got stuck at 14 - the impeller assembly. It will not remove from 15, or does it connect all the way down to 21? We have already removed the screw in the middle and don't know how to proceed, it just spins, even if we push or pull while turning it. We hope we don't have to get under the dishwasher to replace this. Any advice would be great!!! Thanks in advance!

The impeller should just pull off.

If you are trying to replace number 25 the pump gasket you will have to remove the pump housing. There is a locking ring that is located under the dishwasher.

If the dishwasher is working fine I would just clean the gasket with bleach.

Here is a link to your dishwasher model dwu9200bab.
