Default Replacing The Button Insert
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FDBB944CS0
Age: 1 - 4 years

What is the best way to remove this insert so that I can replace it with a new one?

Do I need to use some kind of adhesive remover to get all the white decal material off of the buttons? I don't want to just grab solvent and end up ruining the button pad..

Click Image to Enlarge if needed...

I Purchased the following part from parts select and they shipped it today..
PS734657 INSERT

Thanks,
Jeff

I have not done this on this unit but have removed many decals from other things.
Would only do this if no one else who has actually done this replies.

Heat it up with a hair dryer, often the glue is heat sensitive.
Too hot and it will leave lots of glue on.
Too cold and the decal rips.

Then clean it with isopropyl alcohol, hopefully this will dissolve/remove the residual glue. It is a good solvent because it does not leave a solvent residue.

If this does not work try varsol. Then clean it with isopropyl.
Let is dry good before putting on the new decal.

Always a good idea to try the solvent in a small area first, can never tell what will actually eat the plastic.

Thanks for the tips..

I must say that that I am suprised this has already delaminated.. It started out with cracked buttons after the first years of use then got worse from there..

My old Frigidaire was old as dirt before I had to fix anything on it.. I have had to replace a few odds and ends on this model.. They don't make them the same anymore...

At least you can stil buy parts..

Jeff

Well I just received the insert and replaced the bad one on my dishwasher.

I used to be a screen printer and I can say that the original one was defective.. The decal let go because the ink did not adhere to the substrate. This one didn't even pass the fingernail scratch test so I know it would not pass the razer hash and tape scratch test.

If I would have let something like this leave my press it would not have been pretty.

I would think Frigidaire should have to recall these..

Oh well, It is a done deal.. you get what you pay for.. It isn't a Kitchen-Aid..

Jeff
