Default Quiet series 100 won't fill/ runs manual
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MDBTT59AWW
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have seen this issue discussed for different models and I used the search before posting. Sorry to waste time if a dupe, but...

No water flows in when DW is started. Manual fill, then need to do again when wash is finished so it will rinse. I have manipulated the float device in the right front, and it seems to move up and down but how do I verify that it's functioning properly?

My water lines go out of sight under the kitchen sink through the paneling so I cannot see exactly where they enter the DW itself. This problem began very recently and seemingly w/o cause. DW had been functioning normally.

Thanks for any advice.

You should hear a click when you raise and lower the float.

It sounds like the fill valve that is located under the dishwasher has failed.

You will need a meter to check the float switch and the fill valve.

To access the float switch and the fill valve remove the lower front panel.

Turn the power off to the dishwasher first.

The fill valve is located on the left hand side and the water line is hook to it.

Here is a link to your dishwasher model MDBTT59AWW.

Thanks! I'll go check those things. Is this a common part to fail? It would seem like it shouldn't be.

It is one of the parts that can fail.

Default quiet series 100

We have had the same model for 5 years, and have had the repair man in at least 20 times for one reason or another. We are definitely taking advantage of the warranty. Anyway the whole thing has probably been replaced one piece at a time but we did have the problem you describe. It starts with malfunctioning as you describe but gets progressively worse and extends into other functions. Whats happening is there is a ribbon cable that routes from the control panel down inside the door. The steam and chafing action when the door opens and closes causes the ribbon cable to short across hence the loss of function or erratic function that progressively gets worse. Had the ribbon cable replaced and worked OK for a while after that.

We had the repair guy in this past weekend because the soap door wouldnt open, which we found out was a burned up wax motor. You can expect to run into this type of thing every few months with this model

I worked the float switch a few times, kind of "tapped" it to be sure it seated right, etc. Everything started working great and has done so ever since. Thanks for the help. Helped avoid a costly service call for a minor issue.

I apologize for not replying sooner with the good report.
