Default Noisy dishwasher & doesn't clean
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KUDI230B0
Age: 5 - 10 years

Machine noise level has doubled and neither rack level gets cleaned. Nothing has been broken. I don't know if this is normal but the lower spray unit just sits atop the shaft, nothing secures it. It goes through all cycles normally. The machine has done a poor job of cleaning since it was new, dealer says it was normal.

You may have a bad bearing in the motor causing the noise.

Is there water going in the tub?

Take the pump apart and check the wash impeller.

Here is a link to your dishwasher model KUDI230B0.

The impeller appears to be ok. However the water level is below the heating element.

How far below the element is the water?

It should only be a 1/4 of an inch below the element.

Here is your what the impellers should look like.
