Default No water on upper levels
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KUDS01FKSS0
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a kitchenaid dishwasher KUDS01FKSS0 for about 4 years now. About a couple of weeks ago, it started making a large grinding noise. I checked the manual and it said that that could be because something was getting stuck, and that once it is completely ground up the noise will go away. Sure enough, the noise recently went away.

Anyway two days ago I noticed a new problem: the upper and middle racks were not getting any water, and none of the washer arms (upper, middle or lower) are rotating. When I turn on the dishwasher all I get is water at the bottom.

Does anybody know what the problem could be here? Could the problem be related to the grinding noise from two weeks ago?

Needless to say my warranty has expired.

Thanks a bunch for any help I can get.

Yes, you probably have your motor, and pump assembly clogged up, and the water is not getting upi to the upper racks. You will have to take the whole bottom spray arms assembly off, and down to the pump housing and clean it out. Or, replace the whole motor, and pump assembly. This not easy. You might need to call a competant service tech. You can reach me at my website at ApplianceEducator.com
