Our dishwasher stopped mid-cycle. No power, no LED lights, Nada. An electrician checked and said we were getting power to the dishwasher so not a house fuse. I am wondering if it is as simple as replacing part #PS774514 Fuse kit located in the panel. I took the front panel off and visibly looked at the fuse but could did not see anything obviously blown in the fuse. I don't have a current tester or any electrical equipment to check....would it be obvious if this fuse were bad?
Most probable failure is the fuze. It blows on excessive current. Also verify the latch switches are working. You may have a heater relay stuck closed also. Buy the fuze but monitor the current draw during different cycles. If way over 4 amps that verifies shorted relay.
Appguy - thank you for your post. I did order and replace the fuse. The power came back on. However, when I ran the dishwasher the same thing happened and I am with no power, no lights again. Something must be causing the fuse to blow....you mentioned the heater relay..Is that what you think may be causing the fuse to blow? Should I replace both this time or could something else be causing the fuse to blow?
I would monitor current as suggested, but if not possible just turn off any heat switches like heated dry and any sani-cycle,or just disconnect the heater.
After all this, the sure fix would be to just replace the electronic module.
Thanks AppGuy. If the sure fix is replacing the electronic module, can you help me verify what part number? Would I also have to order another fuse or does it come with the electronic module? How do you know it is not a faulty heating element or relay? thanks again for all your help
You are really working in the blind without an amprobe. But one simple thing to do is disconnect heater wires under the tub. This would solve your problem if it was heater related. Rather rare for a heater to short though.
