Default No Heat
Brand: Frigidaire

I am having trouble with my microwave. For the past few days, everything seems to work except the heat. I have read that it may be the door switch? Can anyone explain? It seems to have power, the timer, light, fan etc. all work and when I turn it on, there is a hum, just no heat??
Thanks for your help.

When you say a hum, do you mean you don't hear the fan coming on in the microwave? If the fan comes on, and it sounds like it is running, it could be a magnatron. The sad thing is the microwaves are so cheap, they are usually not worth repairing. It would not be a switch if it comes on at all. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Default Thanks Tom

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the reply. The microwave and fan do come on, just no heat. Does that sound like the magnatron? THe microwave was $500.00. Would it be cheaper to replace it or the magnatron. We have a built in, so have to have one of similar size.
Thanks again,
Annie
