Default New Pump leaking after install
Brand: Kenmore
Age: 5 - 10 years

I just replaced the pump on my dishwasher, after the old one seized up. The new pump ( model #8534942) is identical to the one I removed, however after installing the new pump, I now have a water leak around where the pump assembly (motor, impeller, etc) fits into the sump on the bottom of the Dishwasher. There is a large rubber gasket, which I lubricated with a potable grease, designed for faucets, etc, but it still leaks. The pump install is very simple, just insert the assemble into the sump, turn a 1/4 turn and secure with a retaining bolt. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Any thoughts?

Problem resolved. I found I had to tip the dishwasher on it's front, so I could lower the pump assembly straight down into the sump. I had been trying to install it with the machine on its side, which required assembly from the side and not up and down.
