Question Need to change gasket, Help plz!
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: GU1500XTKB0
Age: 5 - 10 years

I need to change the gasket for this dishwasher, do you need to take the motor assembly from under the dishwasher in order to change the gasket or take off the arm and other parts from inside of dishwasher. I have made some repairs but never taken whole thing apart before. (I already got the parts, thanks PartSelect, you guys are the fastest)

thanks,

I have never seen the tub gasket fail on these. If water is comong out by the gasket, pull dishwasher out and tighten the screws holding the motor to the tub, that should fix it. It is also possible the tub is rusted out if it is a steel tub.

I will try to tighten it (it is a plastic tub). But just in case if I need to change the gasket, do you take the part from the bottom motor or from inside?
thanks,

You have to pull the dishwasher to tighten bolts. Also I have seen cracked tubs before. Silicone cement can be used for a crack, just sand the area.

Actually there is no bolts to tighten. this whirlpool model, the whole assembly is held on by two plastic clip with weight of its parts and gasket is a snap on. So, pushing down on the gasket to flush with tub. If it had leak before, either take off the gasket and clean between gaps or get a new one. It looks like when pulling out the unit any bump to the motor assembly will loosen up the gasket.
