I am not very good at do it yourself things, but my builtin dishwasher will not drain its dirty water. I took out the bottom rack and ran my fingers around to see if any food was caught anywhere, but can't seem to find anything.

I also turned the dial to near the end of the cycle several times to give it another chance to drain in case someone prematurely stopped the cycle.

I've read some of the other posts and I see that my drainage hose is mounted in the top back of the cupboard next to the dishwasher then down into the sink drainpipe.

I do not know how to remove any panels or anything....

Any ideas?

Well, it makes the same sound as when it was washing. My husband thinks that there is not the usual sound change when the dwasher tried to drain..as if what ever pumps the water out is not kicking in. Does that make sense? (I am so ignorant in this area it is not funny!!!!) My husband also was able to disconnect the drainage hose from the sink drain and he tried to shopvac it out and nothing came. He eventually shopvac-ed the bottom of the dishwasher just so we wouldn't have all that standing dirty water.

any ideas???

If the motor is running then you likely have a worn drain impeller.

I ended up calling our appliance repair guy..this is indeed one of the kits he ordered.
He had to order two other kits as well. A $145 repair..I gladly paid him as that is MUCH cheaper than a new dishwasher and he was so wonderful to allow my 9 yo dear boy to help every step of the way. I wish he wasn't retiring!
