Default Maytag will not start and has several lights flashing
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MDB6100
Age: 5 - 10 years

My Maytag has several of the control panel lights flashing and will not start. I have turned power off and back on 5 min later and nothing. I also checked the door switches. Is this a control board problem or is there something else that keeps it from starting? Is the machine trying to tell me something by flashing these lights. Thanks

Which lights are flashing?

Can you please provide the last three letters of your model number?

There were three or four lights. I don't remember which. I was not able to reset by removing power, but it did when I entered test mode.

Last three are: AWQ

I went into test mode and could get the functions to work. Now when I turn it on it stays stuck in wash cycle. I can stop it and rinse/drain manually.

Here is a link to your dishwasher model MDB6100awq.

There may have been a stuck key in the control.

What is the temperature of the water in the dishwasher?

If the water is not hot enough the cycle will not advance.

Hot enough to make a big steam cloud when I open the door. I can run it this weekend and measure the temp. How hot does it need to be?

The water should be at least 135 degrees.

Water was 121 degrees when I ran it. It was tested with a wired outdoor thermometer so I don't know how accurate it is.

It sounds like that water may not be hot enough to operate the thermostat.

The dishwasher will try to heat the water to the proper temperature.

Check the heating element for continuity.

The resistance of the element should be about 22 ohms.
