Default Maytag QuietSeries 300 Leaking at float switch
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MDB7600AWB
Age: 1 - 4 years

A few weeks ago, while on my hands and knees searching for a missing screw to the light over the kitchen sink I noticed that there were calcium deposits where the toe plate meets the bottom support panel. I thought I better take a look under the dishwasher to check for leaks. I removed the toe plate and the front support panel and found the insulation padding was wet and covered with mold. I threw away the moldy insulation pads and tried to determine where the dishwasher was leaking. I believe the water is dripping from the float switch and it only leaks about a tablespoon of water each wash cycle. I have never repaired a dishwasher so I called a local repairman and he said that this dishwasher is not worth repairing. When I commented that it was only three years old he stated that appliances these days are not designed to last and you are better off buying new. When I said I wasn't in the market for a new one he wanted to charge over hundred dollars just to come take a look at the machine. This was something I did not need to hear...it being the holidays and all. I have read a lot of the posts on this website and it seems like I might at least be able to attempt repairing the problem. Are there instructions for replacing the float switch somewhere or does someone have another suggestion. I would be grateful for any advice you can offer. Thanks so much.

The float/switch looks the same as yours at this link
Free Appliance Repair Forum - Downloads

The float itself should lift straight up and out
This leaves the tube which seems to be part of the tub
Clean it (inside and out) and check for cracks. Also clean and check the float. Put it in a large glass of water and check that it is buoyant.
If you are lucky it is just crud stopping the float from working correctly and you washer is overfilling slightly.
Since the float switch sounds like it has been soaked I would order one and replace it. If it isn't already shot it will be in the near future.
The switch is available from Part Select so is the float if you need it

I had the same isue with my maytag. I discovered that the dishwasher was installed and leaning forward just enough past level to allow the float to rise enough for water to drip down through the tube. After leveling the dishwasher I have not had the problem.
