My Maytag Dishwasher model MDB7600AWW, 5 years old, is not filling with enough water. Once it finishes its fill cycle and runs, the pump makes a loud, slow, pulsing cavitation sound. If I add more water manually the sound disappears. I have cleaned and checked the filter, pump, and inlet water valve. All seem to be working fine.
I have run the dishwasher several times to listen to symptoms and it seems the above symptoms only happen during every other fill cycle.

The every second fill symptom does not make sense to me so I may be missing something.

When you say you checked the water inlet valve, did you actually remove it and check it's filter screen?
Dishwashers fill by time, the washer has no way of actually sensing the fill level.
So anything which impedes water pressure or flow will cause a low fill.
