Default Maytag heating element stays on & hot
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: mdb7600awq
Age: 1 - 4 years

Purchased the maytag mdb7600awq dishwasher based on ConsumerReports reviews approximately 3 years ago. The heating element is now staying on all the time unless you leave the door open. I un-selected the sanitize and heated drying buttons, and even unplugged from the electrical outlet for a moment with no success. I don't know if it's related or not, but I ran a cycle recently with a cup of vinegar while the tub was empty. Any ideas?

BTW It does not clean that great! Never has! Especially in the corners, both top and bottom racks.

The vinegar would NOT have caused your problem

Your unit may be part of a recall, give them a call. See below
https://repair.maytag.com/repair/dishwasher.jsp

Here is a link to your unit, includes a wiring digram
Maytag MDB7600AWQ

As you can see the heating element goes thru a thermal cut out (safety device) and then to the control board. Your control board is probably shot. The ,most likely but not the only cause is the relay on the board, for the heater, contacts are probably welded together

If you need to order a new board get all the info off the machines, looks like there have been a number of different Series under this Model Number.

Thumbs up Thanks

Appreciate the help! It is not under a recall. I was hoping the problem was the 5.00 thermostat, not the 90.00 board etc. Before I spend 150.00 to fix it I will just buy a (hopefully) better machine, probably a whirlpool.

Maytag is now part of Whirlpool

I would get a basic unit, try to avoid electronic control boards.
You just have to look at the posts in all appliance types to see the problems.

I would also make sure the unit includes a wiring diagram and a good warranty.
