The latch handle on my dishwasher is broken and the dishwasher won't power on. Here is what I know:

It's getting power.

When the door is open:
- The black wire going IN to the latch assembly has power
- The wires coming OUT of the latch assembly have no power

When the door is closed:
- The black wire gets no power.

I don't know if the latch assembly is broken or not. Also, if it is broken, would that cause the unit to stop powering on, even if I can still close it without the latch handle. (I am able to "pull" it open without the handle).

So I guess the first thing I need to know is whether the latch assembly is doing what it's supposed to (according to the info I wrote above).

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I need to figure out what parts to order.

Sounds like the latch assy and handle need replacing.

The line side switch in the latch assy is not closing.
