Default Made a lot of noise and then nothing.
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 665.16764
Age: 5 - 10 years

My Kenmore Ultra Wash 665.16764 suddenly made a lot of noise and then completely stopped working. When I try to start the dishwasher the light comes on and then all I here is his "click," then nothing. I took the unit out from under the counter and looked at the motor while pressing the start and cancel buttons. There is nothing moving, just some "hums" and "clicks." I know nothing about dishwashers but it seems maybe the motor is bad, the unit is 5 years old, and I cannot afford a replacement. I am not that mechanically inclined but when necessary I have been able to do repairs on other things. I'm just looking for some good advice so I can finally have a clean kitchen, please help. Thanks in advance!!

There may be something caught in the motor.

Did you break anything in the dishwasher?

Can you please supply the rest of your model number?

It should be on a tag on the edge of the tub where the door closes with the serial number.

Model #--665.1674000

Serial #--FM2009022

Sheila, thank you for your response. Yes, a wine glass broke about a week before the problem occurred. I never thought the glass would be an issue because of the screen that filters out large pieces of debris. Could a really small piece of glass do this? Once again thanks for your help.

Yes the glass would have gotten down around the impeller and rounded the edges.

For some reason I can't enter your model number in our database.

Is this a Canadian model?

You will need a new impeller.
