Default Loud Noise in wash cycles
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KuDI01IL
Age: 1 - 4 years

Loud noise when in wash and rinse cycle.
Cleaned chopper all the way down under the protector, no debris in inlet area.
What else beside the motor itself can it be?
Can debris get in the impeller?
Machine still cleans well, just loud!!

Pull kick panel and look for water marks on top of pump motor. If so you have bad motor bearings. Not repairable.

No water or water marks any where under the washer.
Should I remove the motor to see if something is in the impeller?
I just do not see how anything can get in there the way the inlet area is all screened and protected.
Again, Can debris get to the impeller?
Listening to it run with the panel off. The noise sounds like it is coming from the sump area around the impeller housing area.
Of course the motor bolts on there as well so vibrations from a bad bearing could just be conducting to the housing.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Found the problem!!!
After living with the noise for a few months the, WASH MOTOR smoked.
Kitchen Aid says they have to have certified repairman come look at it before we can get wnty replacment part.
So wait 2 days, take day off work so repairman can come, $55 for the diagnostic, then labor on top.
NOT PRICELESS!!!

I could do it myself for a little over 100 with parts from this site. What good is wnty??
What do you think. Easy enough to diagnose here…see below.
BAD BEARING, DUE TO SEAL ALOWING WATER IN TO FRONT MOTOR BEARING.
Why do we need to pay for a repair guy to come look at it??? I wish they would just send replacment motor for their sorry failed part.

And this is after all the rust and CRUD was scraped off.

Can we just change the bearing and seal?
