Default Leaking at motor shaft seal
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: dwu9200aae
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a leak under the dishwasher where the motor shaft inserts into the tub. I took apart the entire assembly and all of the o rings, seals, and parts look like they are in good condition. It seems to be leaking at the motor shaft seal and the seal seat assembly (#23 and 24 on the diagram). Will replacing these fix my problem or should I replace other gaskets and o-rings as well?

This should fix your problem but inspected the shaft for pitting before ordering the seal.

It is wise to replace any seal or o ring that has been disturbed.

I also need to order something else that I did not see on the parts list. It is located on the motor shaft, it's plastic and slips over the shaft to prevent water from leaking directly into the motor. The motor shaft seal and seal seat assembly slip over this plastic thingy. Does anyone know if I can order this separately.

One more question. Is it necessary to lubricate any of these spinning parts. I turned the motor on with everything fully assembled and I heard a loud squealing noise and then a burning smell. I'm not sure which way the seal seat assembly should be oriented. Rubber against rubber or the metal ring of the seal seat assembly against the rubber of the motor shaft seal. Thanks for any advice.

None of the parts have to be lubricated before installation.

The motor seal should be placed with the wide end next to the motor and the seal seat metal toward the motor.

The piece that you can't find is called a slinger and I did not see it either.
