Unhappy Kitchenaid dishwasher leaking from underneath
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: kudio1ilbt1
Age: 1 - 4 years

Just moved in and dishwasher is leaking from underneath. I un hooked it and got access to the area underneath, after looking online, it looks like it is called the sump seal? I took it off and it had grudge and grime on it, possibly from leaking. it was not ripped though. why would this happen. Supposedly it was not used a lot before i moved in and someone mentioned dry rot. Any tips on re-installing new seal and is this a common problem? thanks

Here is the parts breakdown, may help wth reassembly
Whirlpool KUDI01ILBT1

For future reference when you see a 0 in a Model Number it is a zero.

Yes seals can dry out over time
Replacement should be fairly straight forward
Be cafefull not to overtighten screws
Be sure to add a couple quarts of water to the washer before you start it up again. Some units will overheat and cause damage if they do not have water in them.

Just take a container and pour hot water into it from the sink
