Kitchen aid - door open 3 times at start of wash

everytime we start up the dishwasher the door opens and the dishwasher stops operating - until we close it again. this happen 3 times and than it does the full wash cycle.

Any Ideas?

It sounds like it may be a weak door latch.

Did this problem start from when you originally installed the dishwasher or did the problem start after a couple of years?
