My Kenmore Dishwasher won't run automatically anymore. We have to advance the timer manually for it to go through the cycles. Normally I would just say it was the timer motor and replace the motor or the whole assembly. But we noticed that if we get to a certain point on the timer it will start working and finish the rest of the cycle itself. We haven't figured out the exact spot yet but I know that it's after the soap dispenser opens and before the drying cycel. Could it still be the timer assembly? Or does this point to a problem somewhere else?
I hadn't thought about gears being stripped. So yes - I'm very sure now that replacing the timer assembly will fix the problem. I will probably end up replacing the timer but my wife and I are taking the opportunity to look at new dishwashers too. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I would suggest replacing the timer anyway, maybe you can sell it as well... If you need any help assembling it or any other troubleshooting you might have. I recently found a great tech support site that have free live chat support. They also have a live chat support that you can use for free!
