Default Kenmore making roaring/grinding noise
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 17512200
Age: 5 - 10 years

We have a 5-year-old Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher. About 3 months ago, the motor began to make a loud grinding noise during the wash cycle. The dishwasher still worked fine, though--so since it was just noisy, we thought we could live with it. It has progressively gotten louder. Now, it roars. It still cleans well, but the roar is so loud, we can't even carry on a conversation in our kitchen. We have to literally yell over the roar. What could the problem be? We would like to try to repair it ourselves. Thank you!

You have pump motor bearings going sour.Pull kick panel and check for water leakage above motor, water confirms problem.

Thumbs down grinding noise

I just opened mine for the same reason and found the chopper blade disassembled and on the bottom of the compartment and my grill was completely filled with filth, I am sure that this is why it was not only making a grinding noise on occasions but also the reason why the dishes were coming out dirtier than before.
