I have a Kenmore Elite dishwasher that will not drain . . . 'sounds' normal, I've pulled apart the sump assembly and everything looks good from the top side and I've checked the drain line, and it seems clear, too.

Where should I look next? I'm guessing there is likely some kind of 'check valve' on the drain line that could be plugged and that I might want to check the pump, itself for obstruction.

Can these be accessed without pulling the dishwasher out? In other words, can I either get to both of these from the access panel, underneath, or can I pull the sump assembly into the dishwasher tub without pulling the dishwasher from under the counter?

You can service the dishwasher with out removing it from under the counter.

Check the drain pump motor for operation.

Thanks for the note. . . before pulling everything apart, I decided to double check line and pump clearance.

So, I removed the line from the drain pump (after removing the access panel) and took my wet/dry vac and

1 - blew air through the drain pump from the top
2 - sucked clean water from the sump of the dishwasher through the drain pump to the bottom fitting
3 - (briefly) sucked clear the drain line that was connected to the drain pump (from the disposal)
4 - blew air into the drain line

After all this, it's working! In the meanwhile, any advice how to remove the drain pump, if this happens, again?
