Default Kenmore Elite Dishwasher - No Lights
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 665.17469300
Age: Please select

Does not turn on-lights do not come on. Checked electric panel, wire to dishwasher, door switch. All fine. Also, there is a small amount of water on the bottom of the dishwasher - not sure that means anything.

Could not find a parts break down but here is a link to your unit
Kenmore Parts for Models 665.17469300

You will notice it shows a fuse kit, this could be the culprit
Check your wiring schematic
Perhaps someone else can tell you where this fuse is located and what it protects

rgletter, that thermal fuse that Mr Denman is taling about is located on the control board, behind the control panel. Here is your instruction. Make sure there is no power to the dishwasher, that is cut the breaker off. Open the dishwasher door, and take off all the torx screw going around the inside of the door. Then take the whole plastic inner door off, and set aside. There will be a big plastic black cover, covering the board, take it off. Now when you are looking down at the board the fuse is on the right side of the board closest to you, and it has to wires. What I would do first before this is cut the breaker off, is take the bottom panel off the dishwasher, and on the bottom right hand corner is a small metal box, with a 1/4' screw holding it in. That is where the power is. If you had a meter that is where you would check and make sure there is power. If not a visual check will have too do for now. If it looks Ok check the fuse. Note 4 things can make that dishwasher dead. No pwer, the board, the fuse, and the door switches. Oh by the way the fuse part # is 8193762. If you want to do a quick check to see if the fuse is bad, take the two wires off and tape together, and put it back together and check and see if it works. If so replace the fuse. I can be reached at Applianceeducator.com Good Luck Tom

Before I read this I took the entire keypad and control panel off the deishwasher. According to the above link, the white box shaped fuse is connected to the control panel. I'm not sure how to get the control box out of the front control panel. It is in place with plastic and I don't want to break the plastic. It seems like the plastic bends. I'm sure there is a trick here. Can I check the fuse with a meter? Do I check for continuity? Do I have to hook this back into the machine first? The recommendation about pulling off the two wires from the fuse and then back on does not make sense since I already turned off the electricity from the panel for 30 minutes and turned on again. Please advise. Thank you so much for your time.

Also, I forgot to add that before all the lights went out - the Cycle lights would not work but the Option lights did work. I was able to run the tests and watch the cycle lights turn on and the machine run. Then finally it just shut down. So I think the fuse itself is not the answer here. I'm leaning towards replacing both the keyboard and control board. The door switch checks out fine (continuity with no wires attached) but I'll order a new one since it is not expensive and might be useful in the future. Does this sound right? Not sure about the keypad but it might be related to the original problem of Cycle lights not active.

Yes, with your updated information. Replace the board, and you will have it. Tom

Default locating and replacing thermal fuse in Kenore Elite

After a lot of searching online this forum seems to have actual answers. thanks.

I believe my issue relates to this thread. Our Kenmore Elite mod 665.15952000 produced a burning smell a while ago and will not turn on. Sounds like a fuse.

I am trying to 1) locate the thermal fuse. the sears repair manual I bought says its in the rear right of the tub. The illustration shows it on the front of the tub This thread seems to imply its in the control panel

Before I get myself into a lot of trouble I'd appreciate any help or info that you've discovered in replacing your own fuses.

thanks.

I called Sears and got chumped into buying their repair manual which is not helpful at all... Let me know if you're interested in the manual

Sorry if this is a repeat. I don't see my post. My Kenmore Elite mod 665.15952000 made a burning smell a while back and then no power. seems like a fuse issue.

I am trying to locate the fuse and test and replace it. the manual i bought from sears (worthless) shows it in two places. (the right read of the tub) Picasa Web Albums - Carl - dishwasher and another llustration shows part 26 in the front Picasa Web Albums - Carl - dishwasher

this thread points to the control panel. I'm obviously confused and would appreciate any help.

thanks
