Default Kenmore Dishwasher Heater Element
Brand: Kenmore
Age: 1 - 4 years

My heater element is bad. I have a new one but I'm a bit nervous about swapping out the old one. Does anyone have experience doing this? Any general overview or tips/tricks? Thanks!!!!

How do you know that the element is bad?

If the element is not working it could be caused by your switch or timer.

Can you please provide me with your model number?

a sears guy did a continuity test on the element. it is dead (i could kick myself for not doing the continuity check; i would have saved the $59 fee).

Changing the element is not that hard.

Make sure you turn the power off to the dishwasher.

Remove the kick plate at the bottom of the dishwasher.

You will see the ends of the element sticking through the bottom of the tub.

Remove the wires.

Unscrew the nuts holding the element in.

Open the door to the dishwasher and remove element.

Replace in the opposite order.
