Hello,

I'm stumped. I have a Quiet Series 100 Maytag (model #MDB5600AWW)and
the lower arm did not turn. I found that the impeller did not turn and
that the threads on the plastic piece that was inside the impeller was
stripped, so I took the thing apart down to the Chopper Sleeve
(Threads directly to the motor shaft).

I ordered a new impeller and chopper sleeve assembly. My problem now
is that I can't get the old chopper sleeve off. The instructions tell
me that the "motor shaft must be held to unthread chopper sleeve.
There is a hole in the base of the motor to insert a small shaft tool
(screwdriver) to prevent motor shaft from turning."

How do I get at the hole in the base of the motor??? Please help if
you can.

Am I way off here?? Isn't the metal shaft that is sticking up the motor shaft? In the instructions it says to "Look at the motor shaft and determine if thread is fine or coarse. Thread proper Motor Shaft Sleeve from seal kit onto motor shaft." The shaft that is sticking up has NO threads. I'm becoming more and more confused
