When we start the dishwasher (on heavy), the dishwasher seems to "hum" for about 4 minutes. It then pauses for 15 seconds and then fills with water and starts its washing cycles. Is it normal for the dishwasher to do this?

If it's a problem, what can be done?

It sound like it might be going through a short drain cycle be for it fills.
