Default How do I install the latch handle?
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MDBH950AWQ

How do I insert the handle in the latch. There are two little plastic pivots that need to be in place, but I can't figure out how to fit them in. Sorry, I'm not sure how old it is, was here when I moved in. Thanks!

Do you have the top outer part of your door apart?

Is there may be an other part that may be broken off?

No tricks. It should just snap together.

Default same problem here

hello,
We've been trying to replace the latch handle too. Seems that maytag changed the part so the "new" piece we have has two metal bars. That's ok, but we can't get the thing to fit in either (into both sets of slots). We have model MDB7600AWB, but I'm sure it's the same issue. I'm trying to find an "old" latch handle (that's not broken..) so we can see if that fits...

Do you sell the "old" one or the new one? The maytag part number is 99002577 - your website part number is diff't - and shows the old handle (without the metal posts). I ordered this part elsewhere (also where the picture showed the old handle but I received the new handle in the mail...)

I think that the new handle is really NOT compatible with the old latch assembly, despite what I've been told -- and I'm trying to avoid a large fee for having a repair person come in to do what seems to be a straight forward repair.

Any advice appreciated!

Default Maytag Dishwasher Latch Installation

I am also trying to figure out how to put together the door latch assembly PN PS981636 to the latch handle PN PS650287on my Maytag dishwasher. Both new parts purchased through PartSelect are idential to the original hardware. Your earlier reply to "just snap it together" doesn't seem to be the answer. The plastic holding the metal pins in place is what broke in the first place. It appears to me that snapping/forcing it together would just lead to me ordering another latch handle. Please provide some additional instructions.

Thank you.

Default eureka? the handle does fit

so, my husband and I argued and argued... but we just got the handle to fit.
Here's the story:

It takes a lot of force. We actually sanded down the outer plastic pegs (the ones with the metal on the other end) a touch so that we didn't have to use soooo much force to get these pegs into the slots (it still took a significant amount of force). Then, you're left with the inner set of pegs not fitting in (yet) -- you can probably push REALLY hard on these to get them in, if you still have the latch assembly attached to the door, but not in place (does that make sense?) So, the eureka moment was when I said "lets close the dishwasher with the latch assembly in place" (with the outer part of the door still open/inner part of the door closed) and then we pushed somewhat hard on the latch handle (inwards and upwards) and voila - the inner pegs just somehow went into place...

If this is confusing - I'm happy to clarify. My point - it actually does fit although we were also convinced that we would break it along the way...

Good luck!!!
