Default Help steam or water leak
Brand: Frigidaire

Hello, and thanks for helping. I have a frigidaire older dishwasher - washes the dishes great, but in the dry cycle or steam cycle; heated steam comes out the dishwasher on the left and the right corners. This steam is dirty and discolors the floor. There is a bit of water, but really it is a super hot water vapor.

Doesn't happen all the time. Just about once a week.

I think I need a gasket, but not the gasket on the inside of the machine. I think I need to install a bottom door gasket.

Has anyone ever heard of a bottom door gasket not working, with hot water vapor coming out? Is this the part I need to purchase?

Thank you!

Default Help steam or water leak

Hello and thank you for your reply, Sheila. model is called the Frigidaire Gallery
Model # FDB636GFR3 Serial TH72834119.

The water vapor steam comes out the left and right bottom of the door; now the plastic lapel is peeling from the lower left corner.

It must be a seal of some sort; but it only happens sopmehow during cedrtain cycles.

Thank you.

It sound like the vent at the top of the door may not be working.

There is a blower motor that should come on to remove the steam.

Here is a link to your dishwasher model FDB636GFR3.

Smile frigidaire steam vapor

Hi Sheila,

The leak is at the bottom of the door, near the floor. It is not at the top , but ath the bottom of the door. The steam is unwrapping the plastic siding.

Would a super glue product be successful in re securing the plastic overlayment, once the repair is complete?

Anyway, thank you, but the repair is at the bottom of the door. It seems like an
intermittent sealing problem.

Jim

Hi James, I have the same problem and the same make/model. I'm checking everything (spray arm, gasket) and still don't know where it's coming from.

If the vent at the top of the door is not opening the steam has to find an other way out so it will come out the bottom of the door.

Check the vent to see if it is opening.

Mine drips mainly during the rinse phase, before the drying starts which is when I think the majority of the steam would be, it also seems to be more than just steam dripping. I tried adjusting the legs and was able to move the drip from the left side to the right side too. It's very confusing.

Check for food particles under the door gasket.

Thanks for the suggestion! I will definitely take a look as it is the lower door gasket that is the problem I think. I removed the outer part of the door and ran it empty, that was the part guys suggestion and it was great, others should try it to see where the water comes out, it's only 2 screws holding in the outer door. The water comes in between the bottom of the door and the lower gasket and 'waves' in the little lip in the back of the inner door, and occasionaly splashes over the edge, that's my dripping problem. If I had to replace the lower gasket, I know how much it is ($18 or something) but is it hard to replace? I can't see how to gain access. I did however fix my door handle and tighten the springs so it doesn't drop open anymore so my wife is happier at least! Thank you for all your help. -Geoff.
