Can you please supply your model number?

The door will likely have to come apart to replace the gasket.

With your model number I will be able to tell.

Hi the model # is GLDB656JS1 Frigidaire Gallery Dishwasher

A related question is is this something the technically inclined lay person can do, or do I run the risk of breaking something more expensive in trying to fix it? I'm pretty handy usually with mechanical things and have a decent tools collection, but am not trained in appliance repair (though I did replace the door handle on the dishwasher earlier and fix the springs).

Before I do this, I want to see if maybe this is the way it's supposed to be? There's a gap between the bottom of the bottom gasket and the door; is that normal? I think perhaps the bottom gasket has hardened and now doesn't seal, but don't know if that's right. Thank you so much!

Here is a link to your dishwasher model GLDB656JS1.

There is a bit of a gap.

You should be able to do the repair with no problem.
