Question Help install water inlet valve
Brand: General Electric
Age: 1 - 4 years

I don't know how to re-install the water inlet valve on my GE dishwasher. A friend was going to replace it, took it out, I bought a new part, then they never came back to put it in. I didn't watch closely how it was removed, so I'm lost. I've replaced the hose connected to the water supply under the sink & know where it connects to the water inlet valve. But I don't know where or how it goes on the dishwasher itself.
Thanks for your help.
Lynne

I can't speak for you dishwasher but I can't believe it is too vastly different from mine. The water inlet valve has a thread section that connects to the inlet hose (wrap the threads in teflon tape to elimante leaks) and a smooth section that connects to the dishwasher. On mine there was a small clamp that holds the hose on the outlet of the valve. There will also be a couple of metal electrical connectors that will will need to be connected (make sure the power is off) and a couple of screw holes to mount the entire thing to the dishwasher frame. If you remove the kickplate at the bottom and look underneath the dishwasher you should see where the inlet hose is, the outlety hose is and the electrical connection. From there you should be able to find where it was mounted to the frame. On mine there was no way I could possibly hook it up backwards and I can manage some pretty dumb things at times.
