Default Heater Element | Dishwasher leak
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: mdbh950aws
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hi,

Just found this forum and it has been a lot of help in trying to fix my dishwasher this past week. I now have to replace the heater element in our dishwasher to fix a leak and was curious if the entire unit has to be removed from the counter to replace or if this can be done with the dishwasher still in place???

Thanks in advance,
Brad

Brad, unfortunantly, you have to pull the dishwasher out. Our great appliance engineers, pulled a good one on this one. We should send them out on a element replacement. If you need me you can reach me at my website at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

I pulled the dishwasher out and replaced the heater element, but the dishwasher still leaks at that spot. I have no clue why. Everything seemed to run really smoothly after pulling the dishwasher out.

Pulled the dishwasher out, took off the slip on connectors, loosened the bolts, pulled out the heating element and re-installed in reverse order. I was SHOCKED when I turned on the dishwasher and sure enough about 30 seconds in, as soon as it reached the heater lead spots, it just drains like crazy under the dishwasher.

The only thing that I think could have occurred is that I tightened the bolts too tight after installing and cracked the tub liner...argh.

Thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas.

Brad I don't think you broke anything. If you tighted it up to tight, It would have leaked right of way. I think you knocked something loose in the process. I can be reached at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
