Default Grinding pump motor
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KUDS25SHBT1

The dishwasher fills normal. Once the pump motor starts there is a varing degree of grinding. Disassembled the pump section in the tub to see if there was something causing the noise. Turned the motor by hand from inside the tub- some roughness. Is this enough to determine the motor is out? Is this a difficult job to replace? Is there a special tool needed for alignment?

If you have taken the pump apart and have found no broken glass and all the pump parts look good, then it sounds as if the bearings in the motor are worn. If that's the case then than the pump and motor assembly would need to be replaced.
