I do not use the dishwasher regularly (perhaps once a month). But, when I used it this past week, there was a grinding noise during the wash cycles. The dishwasher seemed to clean the dishes well. I rinse the dishes prior to loading, so not much debris is on the dishes. When I checked for loose items after emptying, I did find a broken coffee mug handle (2 pieces). I believe that they were left by the previous homeowner and were in there for the year we have owned the home.

I did run the dishwasher prior to my home warranty expiring last month with no noise or problems. That was also the last time I used the unit.

Any ideas? If it is a fairly easy fix, I'll attempt to DIY.

It sounds like there might have been an other piece of handle that you missed.

You will have to take the unit a part and find what is in it before it does more damage.
