Thumbs up Grinding / crackling noises
Brand: Frigidaire

My dishwasher very recently started making "crackling' grinding noises There are no apparent leaks, the dishes and pots appear to be clean. there is a little water in very bottom of sump, no more, no less than what I have seen before.
It sounds like a foriegn object got in there and is banging around. Once I remove the spray arm, support, glass trap, filter and volute cover, What then? How do I pull the sump ( or do I ?) I assume my problem may be in circulation motor / impeller or drain motor areas. What might I be realistically looking at, in terms of repair.
The sound starts at beginning of wash cycle through to dry cycle
Will I need to pull dishwasher out the repair this, in effect un-install and re-install the unit
My wife wants to call a "handyman" service to repair the machine. With service calls starting $100.00 plus parts, I am reluctant to invest $ 250.00 to $400.00 in a ten plus year old dishwasher. If I can fix it I am willing to do buy the parts

It could be the pump motor assembly that is making all the noise if you have not found anything in the sump.

Here is a link to your dishwasher model FDB421RFR2.
