Default GE Dishwasher Timer Replacement
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSD2000G00CC
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a GE Dishwasher (GSD2000G00CC) that was installed in 2003. It stopped draining but everything else is normal. I had a tech come out and he said I need to replace the timer and gave me a price of $250. I can get a new comparable dishwasher for $280.

The part is #WD21X10099, and looks like it is about $85. How hard is it to install and where can I find instructions. I'm a pretty novice DIYer, but can follow directions !

Here is a link to your units breakdown
GE GSD2000G00CC

I would take a step back wards and troubleshoot this problem. If you look through the forum you will see a number of THE TECH SAID, then a follow up saying replaced the suggested part, machine does the same thing

When you say "everything else is normal", do you mean the unit continues to wash when it should be draining but does run through the full cycle and stops at the need?
Do you hear the drain solenoid click in at the start of a drain cycle?

NO DRAIN is usually one of two things
1. Drain is clogged
2. Drain solenoid not working

Here is a good site with troubleshooting help
dishwasher repair service help Maytag GE Kenmore Whirlpool Inlgis Frigidaire, leaking, washing, draining problems, pump assembly break downs

Remove the kick panel
With water in the tub and the door slightly ajar
Push the drain solenoid plunger down and hold it
Shut the door
Does it now drain?
This will tell you if you have a mechanical or an electrical problem.

If you do not have a volt/ohm meter I would buy one. You can get a decent digital multimeter for under $20.00. You do not need fancy. It is nice ig the leads are a couple feet long. If it saves you ordering one unecessary part it has paid for itself.

Thanks for the response Denman.

The DW goes through the cycle as it did before, but I do not hear the click when it should be draining. I assume that if it drains when I hold the plunger down, it is most likely the timer? I took the front panel of the door off last night, looks easy enough to take the timer out and connect a new one if that's the problem.

Thanks again!
