Default Ge Dishwasher pump leaks
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSD4910X66AA
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a GE dishwasher that leaks where the motor shaft enters the pump body
and on the inlet end of the pump is a coil spring retainer with a wiper arm.

How do I remove the spring to seperate the motor from the pump.

Drain pump, I have the screen off but can't get the impellar off. I don't want to have replace the motor and the pump unit but would just like to replace the internals of the pump. It leaks around the shaft where it enters into the pump.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you

I assume you are working on the main upper spray arm pump. If so, the impeller is a right hand thread, turn clockwise with a pair of pliers while jamming the motor blower.

Hi,
You say the impellar is a right hand thread and to turn the impellar clockwise,if it were a right hand thread would you not turn it counter clockwise to remove it ?

I have the impellar off, the shaft is knurled and basically the knurling chews up the inside of the impellar upon removing, that being done, now there is a rubber under the impellar and I have removed that, then there is what looks like a flat washer, how do I remove that, I assume that I have to basically remove the pump housing to replace the seals as there is what looks like a plastic collar on the outside bottom of the pump.

That white washer is part of a ceramic seal, it is supplied with the new seal kit. Can leave in place if not damaged.
After all this, make sure the pump motor bearings are still ok. They sometimes burn up from leaking water.
