Smile Ge dishwasher - found loose brown wire

Hi,

I left a post a few days ago that no water is coming in my dishwasher. My husband took off the bottom panel and found a brown wire broken right in front. It looks like it feeds up into the float.

What is the brown wire for, or is it just an extra wire?

I filled the dishwasher manually with water (about 8 cups of water) and it looks like the dishes washed.

What do we need to replace to get this dishwasher up and running. I would like to wait off another year to buy a new dishwasher as I have alot of college expenses with a daughter in college, so if this is an easy repair my husband can do, that would be great. Also, my oven/range need replacement soon, so please can anyone help!!!

Thanks,

Check on the wiring diagram to see what the brown wire is for.

The wiring diagram should be in the control panel or in the bottom panel of the dishwasher.
