Cool Flashing clean light
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: du1100
Age: Less than 1 year

according to the owner manual, a flashing clean light indicates a problem with the heater circuit and to call service; just wondered if anyone has run across this and if there is an easier fix than calling in a service guy. The machine won't do anything now; I have tried cutting power to it, hoping it would reset itself, no change. I installed it myself, replacing an old, old JC penney washer that gave up the ghost.

If you have a meter you can check the heater and the thermostat for continuity to see if they are good.

Here is a link to your dishwasher model du1100.

Well the service guy came, and said that the reason the clean light starts flashing is that the water is not hot enuf; it is best to run hot water in the sink before starting the wash cycle. It takes 120 degree minimum for normal cycle and 150 degree for a pots and pans cycle. If the machine detects water colder than that it may try to heat it, and possibly trip out to the flashing clean light. Also, and this is big, to undo the flashing light and be able to use the machine, there is a button sequence code to push. Press the heated dry button followed by the normal cycle button, and then repeat once. You should see all of the lights come on for a second or two, and then the dishwasher will work again.
