Default Fails to heat
Brand: Electrolux
Model Number: sb915
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hi

Dishwasher has worked fine for a year or so.

Loaded it up and turned it on the other day - it went through the cycle but when the timer showed zero I opened it up and the air was cold inside and the dishes were still dirty.

No error lights

I'm guessing fuse.

How do I confirm that diagnosis and change it out?

thanks

If the dishwasher went through the cycle it would not be the fuse.

Did any water come in to the dishwasher?

Can you please verify your model number?

Where was your dishwasher purchased?

Hi Shiela,

Yes the dishes were wet and powder had been scattered through the load but not fully dissolved so water was coming in.

If it's not a fuse is it the element?

This is a westinghouse / electrolux SB 915 - Bought in New Zealand

Thanks

Alex

It is likely the element that has failed.

If the water is cold going into the dishwasher the detergent will not dissolve.

Not element but element relay on control board.

Default Not element but element relay on control board.

It is more likely to be the control board that controls the element. Where the element relay is soldered to the board, the board get hot and the solder melts off. I repaired mine with some solder.
Unplug your dishwasher from the wall first, You can then access the control board by unscrewing the top sixscrews on the insode of the door. The white fron panel should then pull upwards and outwards. You then carefully prise open the white box that contains the control board. You may need to unplug the wires from the box, take a photo so you remember where they go. The black relay is the element relay. Have a look at the circuit board underneith it. The plug on the end with the orange and blue (and purple) wires is the element supply.

My dishwasher is actually the SB907 (same as SB915 but no digital display)

This also applies to the Westinghouse SB925.

Note that the heating element is not actually in the dishwasher cavity, but on the outside underneith. It looks like a metal cylinder, and can be accessed by tipping the dishwasher on its side.
