Default Dry cycle is very long
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: gsd2230z01ww
Age: 5 - 10 years

I push the normal wash cycle button and hear off on energy options. I started the dishwasher today at 3.00 p.m CST. It was on the dry cycle at least for 45 minutes. When I opened the door, there was a lot of steam coming out. Are we doing the push button right?. I have anew timer and new switch put in (wrong diagnosis by repair person) there was a wire which was broken . but anyway, I am concerned about this and cannot afford another repair bill.

Even with the heating element turned off you will still have heat and steam from the water.

The timer will still go through the dry section of the timer.

Here is a link to your dishwasher model gsd2230z01ww.

I do the same with my dishwasher only when the last drain is done I manually shut the time off and open the door. I then leave the open a little and let the steam out. I find the dishes dry better and it does not cost anything that way.

By morning they are dry even the plastic unless there is a place that the water is setting.
