Default Dreaded 7 blink Clean Light
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: GU2500XTP
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hello,
Here's what I have. Received a call from my spouse yesterday on the Dishwasher stopped and the only thing on was the Clean light blinking. We push Start, goes into the 2 min. mode and I hear the drain pump working but that's it. I checked the resistance on the circuit board, the fuse, the Heating element, the thermostat and the thermistor. All check good except the thermistor gave me some indications I could not understand with the meter. I think that its my problem, but unsure. Then I read the schematic diagram that came with the dishwasher and a special bulletin that I found on the net, it says that the computer must be reset. This really annoys me because I don't want to be a slave to some corportation!!! Special tools for a dishwasher? Come on!!! Sorry, just venting. Has anyone had success with this factory known problem?

Thank You.

Default The Fix

Hello Again Everyone. I finally got this dishwasher going. Here is what I did:
1) As previouly mentioned I checke the resistance of all the compenets in the Heating Circuit for this thing. (That's what the 7 "CLEAN" light blinks mean)
2) I had some residue on the Thermistor, so I clean it well and the Thermistat bracket was a little loose, I tighten it as well.
3) Got everything back together and went back on the Net to see if anyone out there had found the solution. Of Course, no one posted the fix yet.
4) Followed the DIAGNOSTIC CYCLE NOTES that came with the washer on the bottom cover on top of the insulation.
5) After I got past step 3, the dishwasher started a normal cleaning cycle and has been great since.

Good Luck and I hope this helps. This is an awesome website and I will come here for parts. No one in my area carrys parts for this dishwasher and from what I have been reading, there are some incompetent service people as well.
Sorry goes to those technicians that are willing to go that extra yard to help the public.
Another step for the little guy fighting the Big Corporations!!!
Gee, didn't Preston E Tucker warn us about them?
