Question Draining problem and dirty water accumulation
Brand: Hotpoint
Model Number: Will post tonight
Age: More than 10 years

Hotpoint dishwasher, Model # HDA150X

The problem started two weeks ago when we found 2 inches of water left in the dishwasher after a wash. The machine refused to be turned back on with the water undrained.

We managed to scoop the all the water out and dried the interior. We were then able to turn on the machine and start the water flow into the machine, but it still would not drain.

We got the water out again and stopped using the machine since. However, everyday we find a half inch of new water accumulating and we have to get it out repeatedly. The water appears a bit murky and has a somewhat bad smell.

Any hints on the possible cause of this would be deeply appreciated. I will check and post the model # tonight if needed. Thanks!

If you have a garbage disposal sounds like it is feeding waste wator into the dishwasher. Drain hose must be elevated above the input fitting of the disposal.
If still bad drain you might have something cought in the pump or drain hose. Disconnect drain hose and put it in a bucket; run dishwasher in drain mode and see if any debree comes out. If not you will need to pull dishwasher and clean out pump.
