Default Drain Value Leaking
Brand: Magic Chef
Model Number: DU2J-CAN
Age: More than 10 years

The drain value assembly won't hold any more. I got a replacement one by it's not the right part even though it is the right part (if you know what I mean). The replacement has the lever to the drain flipper on the wrong side. I thought it could be turned around but it can't be. Apropos of nothing, the replacement is plastic whereas the original is a rubber which has lost its shape and won't seal properly.

How can the right part be the wrong part (if you know what I mean)? I've searched but can't find the right one. Any help would be very appreciated.

That's the one - which is the wrong right one. However, the flapper on the unit needs to go down to the drain outlet so the metal piece needs to connect on the top (or bottom as pictured) and the metal piece needs to come out from the top right (or bottom left as pictured).

Could the parts numbers somehow be messed up or have they stopped making the correct part?
