Default Drain Solenoid fried.
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSD2001G00WW
Age: 1 - 4 years

Dishwasher did not empty, solenoid fried and replaced. This unit worked for two or three washings and in initial checkout. Then the new solenoid fried and the installation was affirmed so I replaced the solenoid under extended warranty and made a more detailed checkout using a non contact voltage testor. The solenoid pulled in when powered and released when unpowered but seemed to be on too long. I then noticed the solenoid retract about 3/16 of an inch under power, I observed this for about four minutes then interupted the cycle and found the solenoid over heated. I wonder if the timer or it's contacts are failing.

Default Thanks, denman

Thanks I have read the entire sequence and found it very helpful. I'm more used to working on larger equipment without the sensitivity of the solenoid to duration. I plan to make an isolator from a switch and a outlet to allow me to check the signal for the solenoid to make sure it cycles with out stressing it. Then I can close the switch and pump down the tub. I think my problem is the timer that doesn't release the solenoid. I can also take voltage readings. I will break the hot lead on the recepticle and bridge it with a wall switch like the split plugs in my home.
