Question Does everything except was
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: md8600aws
Age: 1 - 4 years

My dishwasher fills, runs, drains, etc. It just does not wash. The washer fills correctly, seems to pump and recirculate, drains, everything. It just won't wash. What's up?

By the way. The racks and clips in this thing are junk and always have been. While I'm at it, the factory installation of the recirc line blew off in my brand new house almost 4 years ago and pumped about 3 gallons of dirty water into my kitchen in about 5 seconds.

It's a Maytag, we're not suppose to have to work on them.

Talking

For anyone who wants or needs to know.

I found the source of the problem on my own by entering a model number search and pulled the exploded diagram of the pump/motor assembly. The chopper/seal assembly which screws onto the motor shaft was made of plastic and the threads were stripped. I found the replacement part at a local appliance shop for $20. It only took about 10 minutes to remove the lower rack and two housings to get to the part. The replacement part is mostly metal.

It seems that Maytag found their own problem with the plastic part and manufactured metal ones to replace them.
