Default Dishwasher won't start
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: DU943PWKQ0
Age: 1 - 4 years

When I push the door closed and try to select the cycles no lights come on. I have already replace the PS382828 FUSE. But it didn't help.

Please help me figure out what part I need to order next. I'm very good and replacing parts. Just need to know what to try next.

Thank you.

The most common cause for no power is the door switches

Was the original fuse blown and how did you know it was blown?

Do you have a volt/ohm meter
If not, I would suggest you get one.
You can get a decent digital unit for under $20.00. You do not need fancy. It is nice if the leads are a couple feet long. If it saves you ordering one unnecessary part you have paid for it.

There are other ways to check switches and power but using a meter is the easiest. Just because a switch actuates does not mean that the contacts inside have actually closed.

I read the first thing that I needed to do was replace the fuse. That's what I did. I was concerned when I installed the new fuse that the door piece didn't feel good. It seemed that it felt hard and I didn't know if it was getting a good connection or not. Make sense?

I live in a rural area where we have frequent power outages.

Thanks for your help. Oh, I where would I buy a volt meter?

Any hardware store or big box like Lowes etc.
Radio Shack any electronics supply stores
Most automotive stores, you do not want an automotive specific tester but a general purpose multimeter.

I recommend a digital multimeter because they are easier to read.
But an analogue meter will also work just ohms is a little harder to get used to.
